Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) is most often considered a supplemental layer of protection, but it should actually
be a vital part of any company's disaster recovery plan. If the national average for Windows server
downtime is $15,000 an hour (and this is a fairly modest sum), then this would mean that every minute of
downtime equals $250. A standard bare metal disaster recovery solution requires approximately 20 minutes, as
opposed to 40 minutes using file-by-file backup and restore. This results in a 20 minute savings using the BMR
solution, which equates to a $5,000 dollar savings in downtime cost with its first use. With the technology available
today, it is no longer acceptable to have a file-by-file backup solution as the only means of protecting data

BACKUP ROTATION IS JUST A CLICK AWAY
The UltraBac BackupPath, FTP, and Tivoli devices have the ability to keep backups for as long as you want
them. For example, if you wish to keep your backups to those devices for only two weeks, simply click the
option to "Delete Backups Older than X Days." To specify the number of days to store backups:
- From the main UltraBac menu, click "Select/Storage Devices."
- Select the "BackupPath," "FTP," or "Tivoli" tab.
- Double-click on the device that you wish to have delete old backups.
- Check "Delete Backups Older than X Days."
- Specify the number of days to store the backups in the field to the right of the checkbox.
- Click "OK" in the "Disk Storage Device Properties" screen.
UBDR GOLD RESTORES TO SMALLER PARTITIONS
When you need to get a system up and running right away, there isn't always the time to find the perfect
hard drive. UBDR Gold eliminates this issue with its ability to restore to a target partition that is as

- NTFS file system
