Overview

UltraBac is designed to automate repetitive backups by creating reusable backup sets. A set is a definition of files to be backed up and can be any combination of files up to a complete computer. Sets can be combined within a backup group for scheduled backups or by the "Run Now" option. To create a backup set, click on the menu bar option "BACKUP" and then the option "NEW". The following dialog box will be displayed:

The "Locked-File Backup" option is available for local drives. After selecting the "Locked-File Backup" option, creating a locked-file set is the same as creating any local drive set. Note: Naming and giving the set a description that delineates it as a locked-file set will enable the user to easily distinguish it from other sets.

See User Manual: "Locked-File Backup Agent" section of the "Agents: Windows 95/98, SQL, Exchange, Oracle and NetWare" chapter.

See UBQ: UBQ000136 Locked-File Backup

The "Display this box on startup" option causes the above "New Backup" screen to be displayed whenever UltraBac is started. De-selecting this option causes UltraBac to display the main screen instead and the user must select the option path: "Backup"/"New" to access this "New Backup" screen. Note: Changing this option and selecting "Cancel" will still change the option.

Select the appropriate category from the "Operation" dialog box. Local drives (logical partitions) are drives local to the computer the user is logged on to. A drive refers also to logical partitions. If a distinction is necessary, the term "physical drive" will be used when excluding logical drives. Fixed drives are drives with non-removable media.
