The "Before" and "After" processing an UltraBac backup Set (*.UB file) provides the functionality of executing a batch command immediately before a set is processed and immediately after a set is processed.
An UltraBac backup set represents somewhere between 1 to all of the files located on a logical drive.
The "Before" and "After" functionality is attached to a set when the set is either created or subsequently edited and then "Saved". To attach a "Before and After Job" to a set, click on backup from the main menu bar and then either click on "New" or "Open". After the files for the selected drive are displayed, click on the "Create Set" button to display the before and after command entry fields. Enter the required commands and click on "OK" to save. The "Before" command line also has an optional check box to abort processing the set. If aborted, the next set will then be processed.
The "Before and After Job" attached to each set will be executed when either the BEI Scheduler Service initiates the backup, or when the Group is highlighted and the operator uses the "RUN NOW" button and clicks on the button for "Unattended" operation.
An example of a Set which would use this functionality is to execute a command line which would temporarily close a mail database, back up the database files, then reopen the mail database files, and then continue the backup by processing the next set in the group.
