SUMMARY:
There are two kinds of partition level image backups – Standard Partition Level Image, and Static Mirror Partition Level Image. A Standard Partition Level Image set may include multiple partitions, while a Static Mirror Partition Level Image may only include one partition. Also, a Static Mirror Partition Level Image may only be backed up to a target device that is defined as a Partition Storage Device. The following UBQ discusses the Static Mirror Partition Level Image Backup.
See UBQ000052 – Defining a Partition Storage Device.
DETAILS:
Performing a Static Mirror Partition Level Image backup is basically the same as performing a Static Mirror (Disk) Image backup except the target must be a defined as a Partition Storage Device within UltraBac instead of an Image Storage Device.
Defining a Target Storage Device
To perform a Static Mirror Partition Level Backup, a target storage device must be defined. The target partition must be created but not assigned a drive letter and must be of adequate size before defining it as a Partition Storage Device.

Creating a Static Mirror Partition Level Image Backup Set
When creating a Static Mirror Partition Level Image Set, load the set and select only one partition. Give the set a unique description and save the set.
Performing an Ad-hoc or Scheduled Backup
At this point, either an ad-hoc or scheduled backup may be performed.

UBDR Utility's Static Mirror Image Function
The copy disk/partition procedure provides a complete sector-by-sector static mirror image backup of the source disk/partition to an attached target disk/partition. The target disk becomes an exact duplicate of the source disk. In case of disaster the user may simply switch the boot SCSI ID to the mirrored drive.
See the UBDR section of the user manual.
Creating SADR (Stand Alone Disaster Recovery) Floppies
In order to restore a Boot Disk Image, we recommend that the user create UltraBac's SADR Floppies before the boot disk fails. These floppies do not need be made on the computer where the restore will be performed. However, the hardware on the computer during the floppy creation needs to be compatible with the hardware at the time of restoration (e.g. complex RAID drivers.) The boot floppy disks may be created on a different (yet compatible) computer, but crucial files may end up being missing from the disks, and the floppies may be unable to boot up the original disk. If you are using a RAID controller, or have a tape device or SCSI device driver that was originally installed from floppy or CD, you need to make sure those drivers get installed on the floppy. (For more information, see UBQ000026 - Supporting Proprietary & Multiple Drivers with Stand Alone (Recovery) Floppies.)
NOTE: The "MakeDisk.exe"
utility, which provides for the creation of the SADR diskettes, will not
be included in UltraBac 6.3 and above, in favor of the UltraBac Disaster
Recovery (UBDR) utility.
