SUMMARY:
DETAILS:
Performing a Standard Boot Partition Image restore is basically the same as performing a Standard Boot (Disk) Image restore. Performing a Standard Non-Boot Partition Image restore is basically the same as performing a Standard Non-Boot (Disk) Image restore. The major difference in both cases is that the target partition must be created but not assigned a drive letter before the restore and must be of adequate size.
Note: When using the UBDR utility, or the SADR floppies/CD-ROM to restore, if the partition already exists, the drive letter is automatically ignored so the user will not need to un-assign the drive letter prior to restoring.
Boot Disk
The UBDR restore procedure provides for a boot ( or non-boot) disk or boot partition level image restore from a local ASPI supported tape device; or from a local or remote disk. Note: Unlike SADR, the UBDR disk or partition level image restore, may be restored from a remote diskpath; due to the use of the DOS boot floppy with network support.
Or the user may restore the boot disk by booting from the SADR floppies/CD-ROM that were created before the boot disk failed. Select the source device and then the target device and follow instructions.
Note: When restoring a boot partition, if the MBR (Master Boot Record) does not exist (e.g. newly formatted disk), either restore it or create it before restoring the partition. The UBDR utility provides the ability to restore the MBR only, or prior to restoring the rest of the image data. The SADR Floppies may restore the MBR by pressing F5 instead of restoring the partition. To create the MBR , run FDisk and create a Primary DOS Partition of adequate size and set it as active. This creates the MBR (Master Boot Record). Make sure the geometry of the original and target drives are the same.

Non-Boot (Data) Disk
A non-boot disk image can be restored either by using the Integrated GUI (interface), the UBDR utility, or the SADR floppies.
Note: Non-Boot Partition Level Images can be restored from Disk Images when using the Integrated GUI (interface)
