Highlight the .UBB file (Scheduled Backup Group) that you wish to set up with SMTP
Click on the button that says "Options".
Use the pull-down menu under "Email Notification" to select SMTP.
Click on "Edit Distribution," which is now available to select.
This will bring up the "SMTP Distribution List" screen. In the first field, enter your SMTP Server name. This must be correct. In the second field, enter the email address that you want to be listed in the "from" field when receiving email. Since this is not verified in any manner by UltraBac, it doesn't have to be one that actually exists on your system, but can be a bogus one, such as "noone@ultrabac.com". It must however be of a proper form. (something@something.something). test@asdf is not of valid form because it doesn't contain a period and something after the period. Additionally if you have relaying prohibited on your SMTP server, and/or only allow certain users to use the SMTP server, then you may have to provide a legitimate email address in the from and to fields.
Next, click on Add, and enter in the full email address of someone that you wish to receive email notification from UltraBac. You can repeat this step to add up to 20 email recipients.
Click on OK, to go back to the "Scheduled Backup Options" screen, and select if you wish to receive email notification on each error (which can add up to a lot of email), to send the full backup report, or to limit the email notification size. The default is that none of these options are turned on; if none are turned on, then the recipients receive a single email with a link to the backup and verify logs, which they can use to determine if the backups were all right. Click on "Send Test E-Mail" to ensure that it is set up correctly.
Click on "OK" to go back to the "Scheduled Backups" screen. Clicking on "OK" once more will save the changes made to the .UBB file, or you may click "Run Now" for an ad-hoc backup.
