To define a partition storage device in UltraBac, there must exist a local hard disk where a partition has been created and has not been assigned any drive letters. If the desired storage drive has any drive letters assigned, it can be un-assigned by using Disk Administrator. Make certain that the changes are committed within Disk Administrator before going into UltraBac, or the Partition Device will still not be available to UltraBac for Backups. It is not necessary to format the partition device.

To define this undefined partition as a Partition Storage Device or select a pre-defined device, press (Control-T) or use the option path, "Tools"/"Preferences"/"Media"/"Default Storage Device". Now use the option path: (click the down arrow on the "Show" list box)/"Image".
IMPORTANT: Using a partition as a Partition Storage Device will erase the entire partition. Make absolutely certain you are not selecting the wrong hard drive or partition!
Either select a Partition Storage Device from the list or select "Add" to define one.

From the "Add Image Storage Device" screen select the desired drive using the down arrow and choose "OK".

Select an Image Storage Device for an Integrated Static Mirror Image Backups or a Tape Storage Device for Integrated Image Backups. This is accomplished for ad hoc backups through the option path, "Tools"/" Preferences"/"Media"/"Default Storage Device"/(click the down arrow on the "Show" list box)/"Image"/(highlight an image storage device"/"OK" or press (CTRL-T).
