SUMMARY:
DETAILS:
UltraBac can perform a backup to a disk path.
To open the Device selection window, go to 'Select | Storage Device', and select 'Disk' in the "Show:" menu. To define the path, press "Add". Refer to the following dialog box example:

Figure 1: Define Disk Device Path
Upon initial installation, there will be no defined disk paths. The maximum number of defined disk paths is 100. Supported disk paths include FAT, NTFS, Windows for Workgroup client disks and Windows 95/98 client disks.FAT32, and any disk path that can be written to by NT/2000. This could include a Linux/Unix disk path via Samba or any SAN device. When selecting the "Limit Size per media" option, enter the maximum disk space, in MBs, that UltraBac is allowed to use.
Note:When the file system limits file size set the MaximumDiskBackupFileSize registry key: See UBQ: UBQ000156 UltraBac Specific Hidden Registry Keys : MaximumDiskBackupFilesize

When no longer necessary, defined disk paths can be deleted using the "Remove" button or edited by using the "Edit" button. Refer to the Chapter "Disk-to-Disk Backups" in the manual for more information.
NOTE: If a fixed disk device reaches
capacity during backup the user will be prompted to supply another volume
to continue. If the user selects OK at the prompt, then the previous backup
files are in danger of being overwritten.
If there is the possibility the fixed disk device will reach capacity during
backup, supply an alternate target device to which an overflow may cascade.
The failsafe device may be defined within the Scheduled Backup group's
"Define Storage Devices for Backup" dialog box.
See the Cascading To Additional Drives segment of the Schedule Backups
section of the manual.
