SUMMARY:

Explanation of a file by file backup.

DETAILS:

What is a file-by-file backup? A standard UltraBac backup is a file-by-file backup, which examines the files on a selected partition, and processes each file sequentially until all selected files have been processed. This type of backup can omit a selected file from the backup based on the file's status at backup time. This is typically the case of a file that has been opened in "exclusive" mode of access. The benefit of a file-by-file backup is that the operating system guarantees the integrity of each file as it is backed up.
