INFO: Creating and Editing Sets and Groups Through a Text Editor

UBQ ID Number: UBQ000013

SUMMARY:

Modifying backup sets and groups using a text editor

DETAILS:

Advanced users can create and edit both backup sets and groups using a text editor program. Backup sets and groups can also be created and deleted through programming. This allows complex backups to be performed in a domain where the requirements literally change from day to day.

Note that when creating a repetitive number of backup sets, after creating the first through UltraBac, it may be faster to create new files by editing the "*.UB" file, modifying it and then saving each as a new file name. When creating a set through UltraBac, "Ctrl-E" displays the selection logic.

The best way to learn how to do this may be to create a few sets/Groups within UltraBac and then open the .ub and .ubb files in a text editor to see how each is created.

Take note that when using a text editor for set & group creation or editing, strictly follow the documentation regarding the entry of parameters or backup failures will result.
