SUMMARY:

DETAILS:

  1. Go to "Backup", select "New".

  1. Select either "Back up all local fixed drives and registry" or "Select local fixed drives to back up." If you're backing up a network drive, select "Select network drive to back up". Click "Next >"

  1. If it's a local backup, select the appropriate drive letter, or "All Local Hard Drives". Click "Next >"

  1. Now you're on the "Create Set" screen. Enter a Set Description that is unique (this will be what UltraBac enters in the log file, and what you would use for tracking backups).

  1. Select the File Selection Logic" that you wish to use. You have the following choices:

All Files (backs up all files on the drive or network share)

Modified Files (backs up files based on archive bit set status)

Modified Files - Beginning of Day (backs up all modified files since 00:01 that day)

Modified Files - Beginning of Week (backs up all modified files since Monday at 00:01)

Modified Files - Beginning of Month (backs up all modified files since the 1st at 00:01)

  1. If you wish to run a script before or after the backup, you would enter it into the "Before backup begins" and "After backup completes" lines. (See UBQ000016 – Before/After Backup Option Syntax, and UBQ000035 – Before/After Job Macros for Sets and Groups for more information.) Click "Save Set".

  2. Give this file a name (something that is unique, such as "C_JOE" if it's the C drive of Joe's computer), and click "Save". Don't enter anything into the "Supply a Computer Name for the New Set" line.

  1. Now you'll be back at the "New Backup" screen. If you wish to create more sets, click "Back" twice. If you don't need to create more sets, then click "Cancel". Next step is to create the scheduled backup groups.
